Biblical Counseling

Students choosing the Biblical Counseling proficiency may use it with any major. Students will learn to identify human needs and problems, gain skills in getting to the root issues, and give hope and provide solutions through biblically based content and methodology.

Introduction to Biblical Counseling

This course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of basic biblical counseling, emphasizing scriptural prescriptions for man’s physical, mental, and spiritual needs. Prerequisite: None

BC 102 3

General Principles of Biblical Counseling

This biblical counseling course looks at the fundamentals of biblical counseling. The sufficiency of Scripture will be addressed as well as practical application of the principles and precepts of the Word of God. The student will be equipped to use the Bible as the core of their counseling ministry. Prerequisite: None

BC 216 2

Pastoral Counseling

This will be an in-depth look at the counseling responsibilities of the pastor. It will include a study of the techniques to be used to provide biblical counsel to those who are hurting and in need of guidance. It will also discuss the precautions that need to be taken by a pastor and staff when counseling. Men Only. Prerequisite: None

Counseling Women

This course is designed to help ladies learn how to give biblical counsel to other ladies. This course is designed for any lady preparing for a lifetime of Christian service, as well as those ladies who may not be called to full-time ministry, but desire to be a help in their respective churches. Women Only. Prerequisite: None

Christian Ministry Counseling

This will be an in-depth look at the counseling responsibilities of the ministry counselor. BC 222 3

Preventative Youth Counseling

This course addresses topics pertaining to preventative counsel for teenagers and their parents and explores the most effective ways to prepare teens for the more common challenges and transitions of life. The knowledge and skills presented are most relevant for the Christian young adult but are applicable to any teen. Some of the core topics covered in this course include having a biblical perspective in life, making wise decisions, understanding God’s will, and engaging in mature relationships. Prerequisite: None

BC 311 3

Biblical Counseling: Psychiatric Disorders

This biblical counseling course will review many of the psychiatric disorders of our day in light of the Scriptures. Students will be prepared to biblically counsel those individuals that present with a previous psychiatric diagnosis. Prerequisite: EN 102

BC 320 3

Biblical Counseling: Conflict Resolution

This biblical counseling course deals with conflict and how it can be resolved through appropriate application of biblical principles. The sufficiency of Scripture will be paramount as the student learns to resolve conflict. Prerequisite: EN 102

BC 330 2

Biblical Counseling: Depression and Anxiety

This biblical counseling course will look at the subject of depressive and anxiety disorders from a spiritual, psychological and physical standpoint. Students will be prepared to biblically counsel those individuals that have a depressive and/or anxiety problem and point them to the God Who satisfies and comforts. Prerequisite: EN 102

Biblical Counseling: Abuse

This biblical counseling course will look at the subject of abuse from a spiritual, psychological and physical standpoint. Students will be prepared to biblically counsel those individuals that have caused or suffered abuse and point them to the God Who cares and comforts. Prerequisite: EN 102

BC 401 3

Biblical Counseling: Advanced Topics

This biblical counseling course will review many of the more complicated issues of our day in light of the Scriptures. Students will be equipped to biblically counsel those individual dealing with these challenging issues. Prerequisite: BC 101 and EN 102

BC 402 3

Biblical Counseling: Marriage

This biblical counseling course will look at the divine design for marriage along with proper biblical roles in marriage. It will also address some of the more common issues that married couples face. Students will be equipped to biblically counsel married couples and help them thrive in their marriage. Prerequisite: BC 101 and EN 102

BC 411 3

Biblical Counseling: Addiction

This biblical counseling course will look at the subject of addiction from a spiritual, psychological and physical standpoint. Students will be prepared to biblically counsel those individuals that have an addictive problem and point them to the God Who satisfies. Prerequisite: EN 102
