WCBC students
Pastoral Major

The pastoral major is for men only and includes not only a thorough Bible curriculum but also practical courses in church ministry, counseling, homiletics, leadership, biblical languages, Baptist history, and computers. This major prepares the student for the calling of pastor or for an assistant role on a church staff.

Evangelism Major

This major is for men only and equips the student for the field of full-time itinerant work. Courses in ministry ethics, practices and methods, the history of revivals and the study of evangelists, along with church planting and youth evangelism make up the core classes. These classes combined with the Bible major and required practical training develop the student for a ministry in this needed area.

Church Ministries Major/Men

The church ministries major prepares men for a variety of local church-related ministries. This field of study is broad in nature for the purpose of giving the student exposure to many facets of ministry. It is designed for the student who is interested in youth work, an assistant pastor role, Christian education, and music. The core requirements in Bible and practical studies are identical to the majors in pastoral theology, evangelism, or missions. Young men may also minor in Youth Ministries while taking this course of study.

Church Ministries Major/Ladies

The church ministries major prepares women for a variety of local churchrelated ministries. This field of study is broad in nature for the purpose of giving the student exposure to many facets of ministry. It is designed for the student who is interested in youth work, Christian education, and music.

Missions Major/Men

A major in missions for men includes courses in philosophy, practices, methods, the cults, deputation, and cultural anthropology. The men combine this with a strong Bible curriculum as well as courses in church planting, homiletics, and evangelism.

Missions Major/Ladies

A major in missions for women includes courses in philosophy, practices, methods, the cults, deputation, and cultural anthropology. The ladies in this major receive the mission training along with general courses in education, music, and secretarial skills.

Music Major/Men

This major includes study in philosophy of music, music theory, history of music, hymnology, keyboard skills and voice training. Men are trained to lead a music ministry in the local church. All of the Bible courses and practical studies are required in this department which prepares the student for a ministry in the local church in a multitude of areas.

Music Major/Ladies

This major includes study in philosophy of music, music theory, history of music, hymnology, keyboard skills and voice training. Ladies are trained to work in areas of music ministry support. All of the Bible courses and practical studies are required in this department which prepares the student for a ministry in the local church in a multitude of areas.

Elementary Education/Men

Philosophy of education, orientation to teaching, tests and measurements, methods and materials, and survey courses in a variety of fields along with hands-on student teaching combine to prepare the student for a ministry of teaching in Christian education.

Secondary Education/Men

The student majoring in secondary education may choose a major and a minor from the fields of English, science, history, math, physical education, music, or Spanish.

The student majoring in secondary education may choose a major and a minor from the fields of English, science, history, math, physical education, business, music, Spanish, or home economics.

Secretarial Major

This is a two-year program for ladies which prepares them for ministry in a church or Christian school office. Courses in typing, computer skills, office and records management, and speedwriting give the student the tools to use in ministry in this vital area of the local church. General studies in English, speech, and Bible are included in this two-year program.

One Year Bible Certificate

The one year Bible certificate is designed for those students who are not certain of God’s will but still want at least one year of Bible college. These classes are the heart of our Bible department and will equip the student with the tools that are needed to adequately know what the Bible teaches. Each of these classes also transfer into any four-year degree program should God lead the student to further his or her training.
