Band and Strings Camp

Join us at West Coast Baptist College for the sixth annual Band & Strings Camp.* Students will have the opportunity to be involved in the concert band and string orchestra as well as attend sessions taught by experienced musicians who play in the Lancaster Baptist Church Orchestra. Delegates may also audition to be involved in the full concert orchestra for advanced players. Musicianship in the instrumental area is heavily emphasized. Come prepared to enjoy an intense week of musical training. Camp will conclude on Friday with a 4:00 PM concert and reception.

*This camp primarily focuses on instruments in concert band, string orchestra, and full orchestra; it does not include vocal, piano, or guitar, etc.

Camp Information

Age Group: 7th - 12th grade

COST: $80

Arrival: Monday registration begins at 9:00 A.M. The opening session will begin at 10:00 AM.
Departure: Friday at 5:30 P.M.

What to Bring: You will need to bring toiletries, towels/washcloths, a Bible and notebook, a pillow, and a sleeping bag or bedding for a twin bed. If desired, you may bring spending money for drinks/snacks. Bring an instrument in working condition; sheet music will be provided.
Do Not Bring: iPods, laptops, electronic games, CD, DVD, or mp3 players, pranks, rock music, cigarettes, alcohol, magazines, a bad attitude, or any weapons. No radios, drugs, firearms, explosives, or profanity are permitted.

Dress: Young Ladies – For activities, you may wear knee-length denim skirts or culottes and modest t-shirts. For sessions, please wear skirts or dresses. Slits may be no higher than the middle of the knee. No low-cut, immodest, revealing or tight-fitting clothing may be worn. For the concert on Friday, please bring a black dress or a black skirt and top.
Young Men – For activities, nice jeans or slacks and t-shirts may be worn (no cut-offs or shorts please). For sessions, please wear collared shirts and slacks. Please bring one black suit for the Wednesday evening service and the concert on Friday afternoon. If you do not have a suit, black dress pants with a black dress shirt and tie may be worn.

Instructor, WCBC & LBC

Brother Hopkins came to Lancaster Baptist Church in 2006. He teaches private piano lessons and music theory labs at West Coast Baptist College and also oversees the music program at Lancaster Baptist Schools. He serves as a church pianist at Lancaster Baptist Church.

Roberto Palencia

Instructor, LBS

Brother Palencia came to Lancaster Baptist Church when he was 8 years old. He graduated from West Coast Baptist College in 2009 with a major in music. He currently teaches string classes at Lancaster Baptist Schools and plays in the Lancaster Baptist Church Orchestra. Brother Palencia also conducts several yearly orchestra concerts presented by orchestra members from the church, school and college.
