Lancaster Baptist School is hosting the 5th annual Band/Strings Camp the week of June 13-17. Students will have the opportunity to be involved in the concert band and string orchestra as well as attend sessions taught by experienced players of the Lancaster Baptist Church Orchestra. Players will also be able to audition to be involved in the concert full orchestra. This camp heavily emphasizes musicianship in the instrumental area. Come prepared to enjoy an intense week of musical training.

Camp Information

The cost of this camp is $80 and includes five days lodging, workshops, meals, a t-shirt.

*This camp primarily focuses on instruments in concert band, string orchestra, and full orchestra; and does not include vocal, piano, guitar, etc.

Arrival: Monday at 8:00 A.M., registration/check-in
Departure: Friday at 3:00 P.M., concert, 4:00 camp is over
(Campers may arrive as early as Sunday and leave as late as Saturday if needed.)

What to Bring: You will need to bring bath articles, towels/washcloths, a Bible and notebook, a pillow, a sleeping bag or bedding for a twin bed and an instrument in working condition. (sheet music will be provided)
Do Not Bring: iPods, laptops, electronic games, CD, DVD, or mp3 players, pranks, rock music, cigarettes, alcohol, magazines, a bad attitude, or any weapons. No radios, drugs, firearms, explosives, or profanity are permitted.

Dress: Young Ladies – For activities, denim, knee-length, fuller/blousy culottes, and modest t-shirts may be worn. Please wear skirts and dresses that are knee length or longer to sessions. Slits should be no higher than the middle of the knee. No low-cut, immodest, revealing or tight fitting clothing should be worn.
Young Men – For activities, nice jeans or slacks and t-shirts may be worn (no cut-offs or shorts please). Collared shirts and slack are to be worn to the sessions. Please bring one suit coat or sport coat for the Wednesday evening service and the concert on Friday afternoon. If you do not have a suit, a nice shirt and tie with dress slacks will be acceptable.

Daniel Hopkins

Brother Hopkins, his wife Jennifer, with their children Ethan and Addison, have been at Lancaster Baptist Church for four years. He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist College in 2004 with a four-year diploma in theology. Daniel teaches private piano lessons and Sight Singing & Ear Training at West Coast, and also enjoys teaching in Lancaster Baptist School where he oversees the music program. On the weekends, he teaches the 8th grade boys Sunday school class and plays piano for worship services. He loves spending time with family and friends, eating Cajun food, and watching LSU football.

Roberto Palencia

Roberto Palencia

Brother Roberto Palencia has attended Lancaster Baptist Church since he was 8 years old.  He is a graduate from Lancaster Baptist School and graduated from West Coast Baptist College in 2009 with a major in music.  He and his wife Jessica met at WCBC and were married in 2008.  They have one son, Miguel, and both currently teach string instrumental classes at Lancaster Baptist School and play in the Lancaster Baptist Church Orchestra.  Bro. Palencia also conducts the Winter and Spring Orchestra concerts, which involve experienced players of Lancaster Baptist Church, School, and West Coast Baptist College.
