Spring Banquet 2010: Singing In the Rain
College students had an opportunity to sing in the rain at this year’s spring banquet. The Student Life Center was decorated with street lamps, rain coats, umbrellas, and white balloon “raindrops” to accent the banquet’s theme—“Singing in the Rain.” After a steak dinner, students memorialized their evening by taking pictures by the many themed backdrops around the gym.
Following the meal and pictures, students went to the Main Auditorium where the real message of the banquet’s theme encouraged many hearts. The mini-drama, put on by the drama players, commemorated the life of Horatio Spafford, writer of “It is Well with my Soul.” Pastor Doug Jackson from Saginaw, Michigan, followed with a message encouraging students to sing even when life brings storm clouds and showers. From the life of Nehemiah, he pointed out that we must ask God to strengthen our hands during difficult days. God always turns the storms into showers of blessing for those who trust Him.
