NCCAA Division II Regional Championship

Feb 27, 2012

This past weekend, WCBC enjoyed hosting the NCCAA (National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association) Division II West Regional Basketball Tournament. On Friday evening, the Eagles earned the right to advance to the finals with a big win over New Hope Christian College. David Cripps and Carlos Johnson were the stars of that particular game. In the championship game on Saturday afternoon, the Eagles faced off against Portland Bible College. They quickly fell back to a 10-0 deficit before beginning a slow and steady comeback. By halftime, they were up by several points. They never looked back after that, finishing with a solid 12-point win. Colton Cochran and Akeem Smith were both named to the All-Region 2nd Team, Carlos Johnson won the Regional MVP Award, and Coach Don Schellenberg was given the Regional Coach of the Year award. The Eagles are eagerly anticipating traveling to Springfield, Missouri, to compete in the NCCAA Division II National Tournament which will take place March 6-10.
