First Home Basketball Game—Victory Over UC Merced
This past Saturday the West Coast Baptist Eagles had their first home basketball game against UC Merced. From the first blow of the whistle, the Eagles had their work cut out for them. Merced attacked hard, but the Eagles fought back as a team and led 52-33 at the half. Coming into the second half, the Eagles had the upper hand, but they still had a long second half ahead of them. Many newcomers to the Eagles such as TJ Tibbs, Creed Miller, Ryan Holmes, Matthew Osborn, Brent Stickles, John Chappell, Shane Davidson, and Akeem Smith contributed to the team’s effort. With 3:30 left in the game the Eagles were up 80-60, but Merced was catching up fast. However, the Eagles were able to hold them, winning 86-73.
